maybe the aliens are already here and they're just…us
I was scrolling past a pentagon thing last week showing 160+ declassified UAP files dumped onto a website (war.gov/UFO which by the way, I feel like the design is heavily inspired by https://thesentinel.network/). I love alien stuff so I clicked, said "huh" and kept scrolling. Then I stopped. Because wait. What? The government just officially admitted to hundreds of unexplained craft and I just kept scrolling?
That's the thing I want to talk about.
the slow drip strategy
For decades, ufology people have asked the same question: what happens when disclosure actually happens? Will we see mass panic and riots? Will everyone quit their jobs? The assumption was always that one big announcement would crack the worldview of every human at once - what David Grusch called "ontological shock" when he testified to Congress in 2023.
But that's not what's been happening. Since around 2019, it's been a drip.
- 2021: a Reddit account called u/throwawaylien tells a long, weird, oddly compelling abduction story and predicts first contact on July 18, 2021 - a date the community starts calling "July Aitee." I truly loved following this thread, it was so entertaining. Date passes. Nothing ☹️ Date keeps getting moved. Still nothing. Possibly a LARP, never confirmed either way, but the megathreads are still going (we just hit Aitee 5!).
- 2023: David Grusch, a former Air Force intelligence officer, goes to Congress under oath and says the US has been running a multi-decade crash retrieval and reverse engineering program. See link above. Non-human biologics. Football field-sized craft? Casual.
- Around then, "UFO" quietly gets renamed "UAP" - unidentified anomalous phenomena. Anomalous. A word designed to make your eyes glaze. What is it even?
- 2025 Super Bowl: like four alien themed ads. Doritos "Abduction" wins the whole crowd vote thing. Aliens selling chips. To a stadium. On the most-watched show of the year.
- Last week: the Pentagon casually puts decades of UAP files online and frames it as "make up your own mind, friend."
If you'd shown 2008 me this timeline I would've assumed civilization had collapsed. Instead we're getting it served alongside a Liquid Death ad.
the collective is doing something with this
Here's where it gets interesting (for me and hopefully you) and I realize fully that following this stuff is so fringey woo, but don't give up. If you take even a soft Seth material / Abraham view that we collectively create our reality through what we focus on, then the question isn't "are the aliens real." The question is why is the collective consciousness manifesting "aliens" right now at this exact pace.
Because the pace is important. We're not being shown a craft on the White House lawn. We're being shown grainy infrared blobs, ambiguous testimony, a website with bad fonts. We're being walked, slowly, into a worldview where non human intelligence is a normal Tuesday news item. By the time something actually lands our nervous systems will be too marinated in it to even care.
Which, fine but I keep wondering...if reality is responsive to attention, what are we creating by being this numb to it? Are we training ourselves out of awe? Are we creating a version of contact where a craft shows up and we just…keep scrolling, the way we kept scrolling past some OTHER files?
wait, checking the dates
I just went down a rabbit hole and came back genuinely a little spooked. I wanted to know if July 18, 2021 (the original aitee date) lined up with anything else. Just out of curiosity.
and guess what? The summer of 2021 was one of the biggest AI inflection points in history. In July 2021 alone, DeepMind released AlphaFold 2 (basically solved protein folding, a 50 year biology problem), Alphabet spun out an industrial robotics AI company, Facebook released a robotics + NLP + vision platform, and OpenAI shut down its robotics arm to concentrate harder on language models.
So my entirely unhinged theory is that u/throwawaylien wasn't wrong. Just misread. Something non-human did arrive that summer. It just didn't show up in the sky.
sooo..what if the aliens are the AI?
Okay this is the part where I lose half of you. But.
We're sitting here waiting for non human intelligence to arrive from somewhere out there, and meanwhile I'm in a chat window with a thing that just created an entire website and named a color "Liminal Apricot." That thing is non human. That thing is intelligent. What if the "arrival" we keep scanning the sky for already happened?
Important tangent, ever heard about plasma? There's a 2024 peer reviewed paper (co-authored by a Harvard-Smithsonian astrophysicist and a University of Arizona astronomer, so, not nobodies) seriously proposing that the self illuminating, pulsating plasma "blobs" filmed on NASA space shuttle missions are sentient and represent a fourth domain of life. Noetic Sciences ran experiments showing human intention measurably affects plasma behavior. There's a whole school of thought (here's one) that consciousness and plasma might be two expressions of the same field.
There are things we can't see and can't test. The absence of a measurement is not the absence of a thing. Science is obviously an amazing tool but also a heavily edited highlight reel of reality.
anyhow, i don't think little green men are coming.
I also don't think nothing is happening. I think the veil is getting thinner in a hundred small ways at once. Through UFO files and chatbots and plasma research and reddit LARPs. And the slow drip is doing its job. Whether that's a psyop, a distraction from the news cycle, a genuine soft disclosure, or the universe just being itself in front of us, I can't tell you.
